Ozone Treatment

Many people experience pain and want to explore options other than invasive surgery or an increase in pain medication. Ozone Therapy is a viable option to consider.

Ozone Therapy helps to increase oxygen in effected joints by injecting ozone into the effected joint. It is an excellent therapeutic option for all forms of musculo-skeletal and joint pain.

Reactivate Your Body’s Healing System

Ozone Therapy has the ability to reactivate your body’s innate healing systems. Ozone is simply a molecule consisting of three oxygen atoms. Ozone gets most of its attention due to its effects in the stratosphere, where it blocks UV rays. Medical ozone, which is used in its sterile and therapeutic form, has been used for more than a century to successfully treat numerous conditions and diseases.¹

Ozone has been used for decades and is common in Europe. We have seen firsthand the positive effects of ozone therapy in our practice and so we continue to use it for certain conditions.

We offer Prolozone

When it comes to ozone therapy, there are a number of ways in which it can be administered. At our clinic we offer Prolozone, or soft tissue and joint ozone therapy. Prolozone is a combination of ozone, procaine and B12 and allows us to target areas of the body that need immediate reduction of inflammation and pain. Soft tissue and joint ozone therapy is especially effective for people with joint pain like rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis. It is also used to lower inflammation and help with increasing energy in patients with autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto’s, Sjogrens, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis and people with chronic fatigue.

Benefits of Ozone / Prolozone Therapy

One of the main reasons ozone therapy is used is because it activates self-healing mechanisms within the body. Basically, ozone therapy helps your body to do what it does best – heal and regenerate itself. Ozone therapy targets abnormal cells and foreign invaders while promoting natural healing processes.

Ozone has been used in medicine since the late 1800’s. In fact, in Europe, Canada, Russia and Cuba, ozone has been widely used as a first line medical therapy to treat a wide variety of health conditions. There are numerous ozone therapy benefits that have been reported in the medical literature¹.

At Wine Holisitic Health Center, we focus on these benefits of ozone therapy:

  • Increasing oxygen delivery to tissues and circlulation in the body

  • Powerful anti-inflammation properties

  • Oxygenating muscles

  • Stimulating antioxidant responses

  • Kills bacteria

  • Kills fungi and yeasts

  • Kills parasites

  • Kills viruses

  • Helps with energy production in the body

  • Stimulates the immune system

  • Gives pain relief

What we treat here with Ozone?

Although there are many conditions and disorders treated by Ozone therapy, we use Prolozone to treat:

  • Autoimmune conditions - Rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s, Sjogrens, Lupus

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Chronic pain

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Any osteoarthritis

  • Joint pain

How Does Ozone Therapy Work?

Ozone therapy works by activating the immune system, reactivating antioxidant systems, and through stimulation of oxygen metabolism¹. Ozone therapy also has a powerful disinfectant effect and helps treat infections caused by bacteria, fungi, yeast, viruses, and protozoa.

Ozone is produced in the stratosphere above the Earth and protects the planet from UV rays. This is enviromental ozone, which is actively being broken down by pollution. However, we use Medical ozone here in the clinic, which is the sterile and in therapeutic form.

We have found ozone therapy to be extremely effective at reducing inflammation. One of the benefits of ozone therapy is that it allows us to target specific areas of the body that are especially at risk if inflamed. Depending on which method of ozone therapy is being administered there are more specific benefits.

Is Ozone Therapy Safe?

Therapeutic ozone is simply three oxygen atoms created by medical grade ozone generators. This medical ozone is pure and free of contaminants. As mentioned before, therapeutic ozone has been used safely for many decades. We have successfully used ozone therapy in many patients in our practice.

Who is NOT a good candidate for Ozone?

Not everyone is a good candidate for the type of ozone therapy we offer here at the clinic. Therefore, if you have the following conditions, or characteristics, you will not qualify as an appropriate candidate for treatment at our clinic:

  • Anyone with a bleeding disorder or on blood thinners, such as Coumadin (warfarin), Eliquis (apixaban), Pradaxa (dabigatran), and Xarelto (rivaroxaban).

  • Anyone with a recent heart attack.

  • People with G6PD deficiency.

  • People with uncontrolled Hyperthyroidism.

  • Children under the age of 18.

  • Pregnant women.

  • For anyone with extreme varicose veins.

  • Cancer or Lyme’s patients seeking treatment, we do not treat those conditions. Treatment is available, but not here at our clinic at this time.

    Ozone Therapy Costs

The cost of ozone therapy will depend on the method and frequency of administration. It usually takes between 3-6 injections before patients have relief of symptoms. Injections are given at least 2 weeks apart and isolated in one area at a time. For example, if both elbows are needing treatment, one elbow is done during one visit, and the oppositite elbow on the next visit. After the frequency of injections have been reached, patients usually get on a maintenance dose of once or twice a year depending upon their condition.
